The Botor Tote was developed as an object of movement: a bag built to carry the materials, tools and personal objects accumulated throughout everyday life. Its name draws from the Ghanaian language of carrying and containment, while its construction references traditional utility bags, work totes and travel equipment. Waxed canvas gives the exterior a protective, lived-in character, while leather shoulder straps and metal hardware provide structure and durability. The front flap pocket and expandable side compartments keep frequently used items accessible without interrupting the bag’s central form. At the center sits the embroidered Because of War medallion, connecting the object to the wider visual language of Study 001. The waxed surface is intended to crease, mark and change through use. Rather than remaining visually untouched, each tote gradually records where it has been and how it has been carried. The Botor Tote is issued in two limited colorways: Canopy and Obsidian. Each colorway is limited to 100 pieces and accompanied by a Study 001 research card, collectible insert and protective dust bag.
